The Long Eaton Militaires Carnival Band performs at carnivals all over the UK and from time to time the rest of the globe. The 'Militaires' is one of the only marching bands in the Nottingham area of the UK that has its own dance section known as the majorettes.

With a history leading back to the 70's many bands since have interpreted their style based upon that of the Militaires. The Long Eaton Militaires have always been well known for their colourful uniform and upbeat musical arrangements and are considered by many to be one of the most fun bands around.

The band always welcomes new members into its ranks. Practice sessions are held on Monday evenings 7PM - 9PM @ The Baptist Church, Station Street, Long Eaton and Sunday Mornings.

Fequently Asked Questions

How do I join the marching band?

In order to join the band you must first contact our band president Mr Colin Webster (Contact details can be found on our Contact us page) He will advise you on the best way to join the band and will help assist you every step of the way. Colin will suggest that you come down to one of our practice sessions to see what it is all about and then you will be able to work with Colin to decide which instrument it is that you would like to play or if you would like to join our dance section 'The Majorettes'.

Do I need to know how to play an instrument?

The benefit of joining the militaires over other marching bands is that you require no musical knowledge, you just need to have an interest. Our members will help you learn the musical instrument of your choice and will help you understand what music is and how to read it.

Do I need to use my own instrument for marching band?

You will be supplied with an instrument for use during the marching band season. It is your responsibility to look after the instrument and maintain its visual quality. If it does need to be serviced then the band will pay for these costs.

How much will it cost me?

Very little.

We only ask for £1 a week excluding 2 weeks worth of holidays. This covers the costs associated with your instrument, uniform and transportation to and from carnivals when a bus is used.

What uniform do I receive?

Our uniform consists of:

Musicians - 1 band hoodie, 1 polo shirt, 1 red blazer with blue bib, 2 pairs of trousers, a pair of white trainers.
